The instaCELL IL-2 potency assay kit is an in vitro test to determine the potency of Interleukin-2 (IL-2) formulations for quality control. Recombinant forms of IL-2 are used in various areas of medicine and research due to its central role in the immune system. IL-2 is for example used therapeutically in immunotherapy. This requires a precise determination of the IL-2 concentration and a suitable quality control. The assay utilises the cytokine dependence of CTLL-2 cells (a murine T-cell cell line) for their proliferation, making it a valid model for determining the efficacy of cytokines such as IL-2 in a proliferation bioassay. The assay kit uses a resazurin viability assay to analyse the potency of the IL-2 product and compares it to a reference included in the kit.
The instaCELL IL-2 potency assay kit includes prequalified CTLL-2 instaCELLs as well as media, reagents, reference standard and 96-well plate. InstaCELLs are frozen cell aliquots which can be used directly in the assay without prior cultivation, basically like a reagent.
